223 Abstract This research article aims 1) to study the exemptions of liability in contracts of carriage by Private Parcel Delivery Companies 2) to study the Civil and Commercial Code related to consumer protection in the business of transporting goods by Private Parcel Delivery Companies 3) to study the protection law. Consumers concerned with consumer protection in the carriage of goods by Private Parcel Delivery Companies. This research using a qualitative research methodology from studying the relevant documents (Documentary Research). The results of the research found that 1) From the example of a contract of carriage of goods by a private company, it is found that the contract is used in such a manner that exclusion or limitation of liability may cause unreasonable disadvantage to consumers 2) although the Civil and Commercial Code set the rule of the carriage about the duties and liabilities to the carrier. However, when the contract of carriage is a civil contract, the contracting party may therefore prescribe different contract terms from the law 3) Consumer protection law aims to protect contract consumers by declaring certain businesses as contract control businesses. This research article therefore recommends that the Contract Committee declare that the business of transporting goods by private companies is a contract control business in order to protect consumers from being exploited by the liability exemption of private transport companies when entering into a carriage contract.
