2011 International Conference on Alternative Energy in Developing Countries and Emerging Economies
- 3 -
Message from the President of Thaksin University
On behalf of Thaksin University, I am very pleased to welcome all participants to the 2011
International Conference on Alternative Energy in Developing Countries and Emerging
Economies and wish all the best to all participants.
As we know that climate change is a serious issue that could threaten economic and
social development in all countries, we are also seeing its effects. It’s an important
duty of humans to find and adopt new pattern of energy production and consumption,
transportation, land use and waste management to reduce climate change impacts.
This conference will bring together leaders in the alternative energy industry, academic
experts and research sectors to meet, interact, exchange ideas and discuss the state of
the art of advanced technology, research and development related to alternative energy.
Solutions will also be offered in order to respond to the growing demand from developing
countries who aspire to achieve environmentally sustainable economic growth.
I would also like to express my deepest gratitude and sincere thanks to the Research
and Development Institute of Thaksin University, the Solar and Wind Energy Research Unit,
Renewable Energy System Research and Demonstration Center-Thaksin University
and the University of Moncton-Canada who have contributed in one way or another
to the organization of the conference.
I trust this conference will help to take us closer to our goals of using energy efficiently.
Lastly, I wish your efforts and determination of working together bring the success
in the event.
Cordially,
Associate Professor Dr. Somkiat Saithanoo
President, Thaksin University
