They are very problem for human, causing many damages, such as gnawing on house items and agricultural products and causing a loss in terms of property and income. Moreover, rats can be act to reservoir host or zoonotic to human i.e. helminthiasis, which rats can be spread easily to humans because they live in human habitats. Objective : To study and identify the species of helminths found in the internal organs of the abdominal cavity of rats. Methods : During August to December 2014, live-traps were used to collected rats. After that, they were exam- ined for helminths parasites by abdominal surgery. Results : Total of 41 rats were collected and can classify to three species included Rattus exulans , Mus mus- culus , Rattus rattus and four species of helminths were recovered, 2 species of cestode ( Taenia taeniaeform- is (Strobilocercus larval)and Hymenolepis diminuta ), 2 species of nematode ( Angiostrongylus cantonansis and Rictularia sp.) with an overall prevalence of 14.63% (6/41). All type of helminths was found that can contact and cause disease in humans. Conclusion : This study is first record of survey and identify the species of helminths from Tambon Kampangsao, Muang District, Nakhonsithammarat Province. The study found that helminths is a zoonotic. Therefore, this in- formation can be used to evaluate the risk of helminthiasis to plan the prevention of disease in humans and pets in this area.
