Bedding material that prolonged transformation time from larva into pupa might help farmers to use larva as animal food or sell them longer. Objective : To study transforming duration from larva to pupa and survival rate of Black soldier fly larvae on different bedding material. Methods : Completely Randomized Design was experimented. One hundred Black soldier fly larvae rearing in 5 different bedding materials (husk, sawdust, soil, sand and coconut coir) were investigated. Results : Black soldier fly larvae that were raised on bedding material 5 types; husk, sawdust, soil, sand and coconut coir. Average transforming duration from larva to pupa were 17.30 ± 0.03 16.51 ± 0.18 17.43 ± 0.24 16.68 ± 0.11 and 17.59 ± 0.29 days, respectively. One way ANOVA was used to analyze data. Each treatment had statistically significant difference at 0.05. Coconut coir was bedding material that induced the longest transforming duration from larva to pupa. But survival rate of Black soldier fly larvae had no statistically differ- ence. (p > 0.05) Conclusion : The suitable bedding material for raising Black soldier fly larvae was coconut coir because it in- duced the longest transforming duration and high survival rate of Black soldier fly larvae. These results was beneficial to farmers for selling as animal food. Keywords : bedding material, Black soldier fly larvae
