Methods : CA/ZnCl 2 thin films were prepared by using solvent casting technique from the mixture solution of CA/ZnCl 2 by n,n-dimethylformamide (DMF). In this study, the effect of ZnCl 2 concentrations of 3%, 5% and 10% by %w/w added in the CA solution (ratios of CA/ZnCl 2 were 100/0, 97/3, 95/5 and 90/10 w/w) on the mechan- ical properties and morphology of thin films were investigated. Results : It was found that the tensile properties of CA/ZnCl 2 thin films increased with the increase of ZnCl 2 content and tensile strength decreased gradually. The morphologies analysis showed the number of pores increased with the increase of ZnCl 2 content and the water absorbance of CA/ZnCl 2 thin films was higher than that of CA thin film. Conclusion : The effect of ZnCl 2 solution content added in the CA solution on the tensile properties, morphol- ogy and water absorbance of thin film were studied, it was found that the addition ZnCl 2 , the tensile properties and the water absorbance of thin films increased. Meanwhile, the morphology showed a surface with porosity with the addition of ZnCl 2 . Keywords : Mechanical properties, Polymer Blend, Thin film, Zinc (II) Chloride
