Folk healers keep the wisdom to themselves without any records and the number of folk healers decreases. Objective : To collect the wisdom of utilizing medicinal plants by folk healers in Khaopang, Bantakhun, Surat Thani Province. Plant specimens were collected and identified according to the plant taxonomic method. Methods : Two folk healers were specifically selected, Mr. Jaroon Chujan and Mr. Sanit Thaporn. Data was collected by in-depth interviews, participant observation and non-participant observation and harvest of me- dicinal plants. Results : The folk healer had treatment experience more 33 years with inheritance from their fathers. Folk healers began a treatment by historical inquiry and physical checking. Mostly, the folk healers would use herb- al formula accompany with incantation to treat patients. Mr. Jaroon has an expertise in treating herpes, asthma and conjunctivitis and Mr. Sanit had an expertise in treating herpes, fungal infection and infectious diseases in early childhood. From the data collected, 34 types of herbal formulas, most of which were for internal uses. The most method of herbal concoction was boiling. The plants that collected were 82 types of plant materials, 9 type of mineral materials and 8 types of animal materials, the most of which could be classified as herbaceous plant. Eighty two of medicinal plants were identified and classified to 41 families, the most of which was Zin- giberaceae. Conclusion : It can be seen that the local still believe in treatments from folk healers. The wisdom of utilizing herbal plants should be well recorded and conserved.
