This might explain the observation that DNA concentration extracted from CPDA1 was statistically significant higher than the DNA extracted from EDTA blood after venipuncture and store for 30 days. Heparin is least effective on cell preservation, since hemolysis can be observed within 9 days in refrigerator and inhibits PCR amplification (14). In this study, both EDTA and CPDA1 were not interfered with DNA amplification in PCR. These results suggested that CPDA1 is alternative and comparable anticoagulants to be used in blood bank for both serological and molecular studies.
