Pimpawan Rueangphut 1 * Waranya Jitbantad 1 Supatra Sahairak 2 and Wattana Warapiang 3 Abstract Introduction : The elderly with disabilities have received many impacts, such as self-care for daily life, decreas- ing ability to work and loss of the family’s role, consequently they live difficulty. The Village Health Volunteers (VHV) was only a participating group in the performance of duties, which is as a representative of the service in promoting a public health straightly. The curriculum of this case management as important role participates, to promote and support the community to be involved in caring for the elderly with disabilities. Objective : To develop the case management curriculum of VHV in caring the elderly with disabilities during the time before and after using the curriculum. Methods : The research and development was design approach which 4 phase. In phase I, studying basic in- formation for curriculum. Phase II, developing and verifying the Quality of the curriculum using supplement ideas and suggestions from 3 experts. Phase III, implementing the training curriculum with the purposive samples from 36 VHV in Nakean community in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Thailand. Phase IV, evaluating the cur- riculum. The data were collected using: focus group, in-depth interview, observation, the knowledge pre-post test with the reliability of KR-20 was equal to 0.84-0.89, and the evaluation form of satisfaction toward the caring Coefficient Alpha 0.78-0.84. Data were analyzed in term of percentages, mean, standard deviation, paired t-test and content analysis IOC 0.67-1.00. Results : The findings revealed the following was: 1)The curriculum of case management of VHV for the elderly with disabilities consisted of theory 12 hours and practice 72 hours included empowerment of people with disabilities act (B.E. 2013), the act on the elderly (B.E. 2003), the health assessment, the basic of caring approach for the elderly with disabilities, the communication skills, and the coordinating skills. 2) The result of imple- menting the curriculum show as: the knowledge assessment of VHV after implementing curriculum was higher than before one at 0.05 ; the elderly with disabilities’ satisfaction toward the caring based on the curriculum was in high level (X=4.10, SD=0.71). Conclusion : The results of this study should be implemented for The VHV. Moreover, the Department of Health Service Support and Sub-district Health Promotion Hospital should be implemented for promoting the case management’ competencies and skills of VHV. Education institutions should establish the case manage- ment curriculum for the VHV. Keywords : Village health volunteers, Case management, Elderly with disabilities.
