The society develops when people are capable. As a result, encouraging people to continue their studies is needed. Objective : to examine factors correlating to making a decision on pursuing study in higher education of Matthayomsuksa 6 in large schools in Songkhla province and to study investigates problems and barriers hindering their study. Method : The data was collected from 400 samples of students at the confidence level of 95. The statistics used for data analysis include percentage, means, standard deviation, Chi-square test and means from Likert scale Results : gender, parents’ education level and occupation, Grade Point Average ( GPA) were correlated to choosing university and faculty statistically significant at the level of 0. 05. It also found that problems and barriers to study in higher education were in a high level. Conclusion : It was found gender, parents’ education level and occupation, Grade Point Average (GPA) were correlated to choosing university and faculty statistically significant at the level of 0. 05. It also found that 4 problems such as background aspect, information aspect, tuition fee and source of fund aspect, and the selection of students aspect, the barriers to study in higher education were in a high level.
