Abstract
Yardlong bean, cowpea and 4 F
1
hybrids were planted at the Department of Agricultural Technology,
Faculty of Technology and Community Development, Thaksin University, Phatthalung Campus from September
to November 2009. The experimental design was a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 4
replications for studying of morphology and some characteristics of heterosis
in F
1
hybrids. The results showed
that all accessions (except Selected – PSU line) were purple flowers. 3 hybrids were positive heterosis on high
plant. Selected – PSU x Suranaree 1 cross had the highest heterosis on high plant about 28.52 percent. Selected –
PSU x SR

-863 cross had the highest heterosis on the first flowering about 3.63 percent. All hybrids had positive
heterosis on Live Area Index (LAI). Selected – PSU x Khao-hinson cross had obtained highest heterosis. The next
lower order of LAI heterosis were Selected – PSU x Suranaree 1 and Selected – PSU x Suranaree 1, Selected –
PSU x SR
00
– 863, and Selected – PSU x IT82E – 16 crosses were obtained respectively.
