Abstract
This research aims to study the technical feasibility of offshore wind farm at Pak Phanang district in Nakhon Si
Thammarat province by using the statistical wind data in 2008 collected at Tha Phaya wind energy monitoring station.
The wind speed and direction sensors were installed at height of 20 m 30 m and 40 m. The data was sampling every 1 min
and was recorded every 10 min. The wind speed at 80 m 90 m and 100 m were extrapolated using measured wind data in
order to evaluate the electricity production and efficiency of wind farm power plant by using WAsP 9.0 together with 6
models of offshore wind turbine generator under the VSPP scheme with the installed capacity less than 10 MW. The
results showed that the average wind speed at an altitude of 80 m 90 m and 100 m were in the range of 7.1-8.4 m/s 7.5-8.9
m/s and 7.9-8.9 m/s respectively. The AEP was in the range of 98.5-139.4 GWh in the case of offset -1.0 m/s wind
resource condition, was in the range of 86.0-125.7 GWh in the case of offset -2.0 m/s wind resource condition, was in the
range of 75.9-113.8 GWh in the case of offset -3.0 m/s wind resource condition and was in the range 91.3.0-126.4 GWh in
the case of 1/7 extrapolation coefficient wind resource condition. The C.F. was in the range of 37.4-52.9 % in the case of
offset -1.0 m/s wind resource condition, was in the range of 32.6-47.7 % the case of offset -2.0 m/s wind resource
condition, was in the range of 28.8-43.2 % the case of offset -3.0 m/s wind resource condition and was in the range
91.3.0-126.4 GWh in the case of 1/7 extrapolation coefficient wind resource condition.
