Abstract
The research goal was to study the effect of drying temperature and type of a dryer of the polycarbonate
pellets drying on the moisture content and specific energy consumption of a drying. Moreover, the tensile property
of plastic product made from dried polycarbonate pellets was tested. The polycarbonate pellets with initial
moisture content of about 0.186-0.193% wet basis were dried at 80, 100 and 120 °C for 5 hours by hopper dryer
and rotary dryer with the hot air velocity of 0.4 and 4 m/s, respectively. From the experiment, the moisture content
of the polycarbonate pellets and specific energy consumption of the drying with a rotary dryer at 120 °C for
5 hours was the lowest. In addition, the plastic product made from dried polycarbonate pellets had higher tensile
strength than the one made from polycarbonate pellets not dried.
