Abstract
The purpose of this research is to analyze of structure and evolution of a binary system SV Tauri
.
SV
Tauri (SV Tau) is an algol type eclipsing binary system which has an orbital period of 2.16690510 days.
Observations were done at Princess Sirindhorn Observatory,Chiang Mai University using a 0.4-meter reflecting
telescope mounted with CCD photometric system in B V and R bands during December 2009 and January 2010 .
The data obtained were used to construct the light curve for each wavelength band and to compute times of its
light minima. The values obtained were used with the previously published times of minima to get O–C curve of
SV Tau. The result reveals that the orbital period of SV Tau is continuously decreased at rate of 0.00249222
sec/year to 0.00615869 sec/year. From the analysis of physical parameters and model, it was found that SV Tauri
has a semi-detached characteristic. This would lead to a better understanding on the evolution of SV Tau to a
contact binary system.
