ESULT AND DISCUSSION
Wind shear coefficient of 18 wind energy research
stations was in the range of 0.15-1.24 as shown in Fig. 6.
Weibull parameters i.e. k-shape and c-scale were
obtained and shown in Table II. Mean speed at 50 m were
in the range of 2.57-4.64 m/s. For the potential site which
mean speed were over than 4 m/s (cut-in wind speed), the
mean speed were 4.08-4.64 m/s. Mean speed in Surat
Thani province was quite high was 4.64 m/s
corresponding to the power density of 227 W/m
2
resulting to the wind power class of 1. Details of Weibull
parameters, mean speed, power density and power class
of 18 wind energy research stations were shown in Table
II. Weibull distribution and wind rose of wind data during
2008 - 2010 at 18 wind energy research stations were
displayed in Fig. 7-11. From wind rose, it showed that the
direction of wind in southern Thailand was dominated by
North-East and South-West monsoons. Most of the
prevailing wind dominated in sector 2-5, sector 10-12 and
sector 14-16.

Results from WAsP 9.0 analysis showed that the AEP
of 1 MW wind turbine generator installed at 18 met
station were in the range of 0.14-1.28 GWh/year as show
in Fig.14.
