Abstract
This research was to study the possibility of using electrical discharge with dielectric barrier in
applications and the characteristic of material using to make electrodes in discharge system. The
discharge systemwas designed and the electrodes were assembled for electrical discharge in 2 types which
were (1) Needle-to-Plane and (2) Cylinder-to-Cylinder. By type (1) Needle-to-Plane, the results revealed
that when material making electrodes was changed into 3 kinds of Copper, Iron, Stainless Steel , Stainless
Steel showed the best result to generate ozone in every conditions which has been tested. And when it was
applied to dispose green dye concentrated 0.025, 0.037 and 0.050 mg/ml, absorbent value was decreasing
to 20% approximately in green dye concentrated 0.025 and 0.037 mg/ml only, at discharge time 3 minutes.
By type (2) Cylinder-to Cylinder, ozone concentration in water getting through discharge gap size 3.50
mm. and 5.50 mm. depend on voltage, flow rate and number of discharged circuit of water. We found
that at voltage 12.2 kV and the 7th of discharged circuit, ozone concentration was about 0.1-0.2 mg/ml.
However, we tested to apply this system in waste water treatment and the result was still unsatisfying.
