Abstract
The main purposed of this research is to study appropriate ratio between pineapple leaves and banana plant,
and pineapple leaf with narrow-leave cattail using as an OTOP products package. The tensile breaking and water
absorptiveness of the paper was investigated. The mixed percentage ratio between Pineapple leaves with Banana plant
and Pineapple leaves with Narrow-leave cattail are both set at 50:50, 60:40 and 70:30, respectively. Then, the water
absorption and the breaking tensile tests are measured under TAPPI 441 OM-90 and TAPPI T 494-88 standards
respectively. The results show that the paper produced from the Pineapple leaves mixes with the Banana plant at the
percentage ratio of 70:30 has the lowest value of water absorption of 2.4642 g/cm
2
; and the paper produced from the
Pineapple leaves mixed with the Banana plant at the percentage ratio of 60:40 can resist the breaking tensile test of
2407.32 N/m. The comparison of the water absorption and the breaking tensile tests of the papers show that the paper
made of Pineapple leaves mixed with the Banana plant with the percentage ratio of 60:40 has the water absorption value
of 2.6269 g/cm
2
which is higher than the paper made of the mixture with the percentage ratio of 70:30 has the water
absorption value of 0.1654 g/cm
2
. Though, the breaking tensile value of paper with the percentage mixture of 60:40 is
higher than that of the paper with percentage mixture of 70:30 about 561.65 N/m. Finally, it can be summarized that the
paper that made of the Pineapple leaves mixed with the Banana plant at the percentage ratio at 60:40 has the most
suitable quality using as a OTOP packaging when the consider form the both factors.
