Abstract
A nutrition study was carried out by supplementation of palm kernel cake in grouper feed to explore the
possibility of feed cost reduction. Groupers (125 g mean initial weight) were fed with 6 formulated diets that
replace with palm kernel cake at substitute level 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 % and trash fish. Experimental fish with
stocking density of 40 were reared in 1 x1 x2 m. and fed every 2 days for 6 months. Fish fed diet number 1, 2, 3,
4 and 5 showed no significant (P>0.05) growth rate but all formulated feeds showed lower growth rate compared
to trash fish. Additionally, the supplementation of palm kernel cake in grouper feed could reduce the feed cost
leading to the production cost as low as 74.93 + 2.43 baht/Kg. fish in 20% level. The present study showed that
the supplementation of 20% palm kernel cake in grouper diet could be used in wet pellet feed with no significant
effect on growth performance.
