Abstract
The study has been focused on using clayey soils from the district of Sathingpra in Songkhla province
and mixed with limestone powder (LP). Characterization laboratory tests were carried out on specimens that were
conformed in a uniaxial hydraulic press, rectangular dimension of 100 mm ×100 mm ×8 mm, then heating at
100ºC for 24 h. These samples were molded with different LP contents, fired at temperature in the range of 1080
to 1120ºC and theirs mineralogical, physical and mechanical properties had evaluated. The results depict the
possibility of using this by-product in the paste composition of ceramic tiles for the use in civil engineering
construction industry, without impairment of their mechanical properties. In several formulations, some of these
properties have been improved.
