Abstract
This research was on purpose of information assembling and collecting as an cultural heritage
archive that would lead to the submission for registration as a cultural heritage of the nation and mankind.
The research was engaged in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Krabi, and Songkhla. The research found that the Tenth
Lunar Month Festival of southern people has been a tradition that was influenced over by Brahmanism in
combination with Buddhist belief. The uniqueness of the festival is the expression of gratefulness devoting to
those passed away ancestors and kinfolks. The festival has been inherited since the old times until the
present and has been a strong and active role in the social. Though there are a many threat factors towards
social and culture including folk wisdoms and social value which are consequent in the changes of the
festival in both form and content. However, the objectives of the festival are remaining enduringly and
continuously with the reason in social belief that is implanted deeply in mind. The research also found out
that local administration organization or relating authorities employed the festival as a cultural capital and
made identity to the festival in each locality It could be seen that the Tenth Lunar Month Festival is
enclosed with morals that are worth to the way of living and it is widely spread over the South of Thailand.
