Abstract
Postharvest quality control of Longkong (
Aglaia dookkoo
Griff.) at Lansaka District,
Nakhonsritammarat province by spraying 0.2% chitosan before harvest at the ages 13 and 15 weeks after
blooming was determined. It was found that spraying chitosan remarkably reduced weight loss, peel browning
and changes of peel color. Consequent to the reduction of total soluble solids (TSS) and titratable acidity (TA)
was higher than control. Longkong at the age 13 weeks after blooming had the longer storage life than 15 weeks
after blooming for 12 and 8 days, respectively. Moreover, spraying 0.2% chitosan at the ages 13 weeks after
blooming maintained postharvest quality with the most effective to prolong storage for 16 days.
