Abstract
Complementary DNA-AFLP (cDNA-AFLP) was used to identify different levels of transcripts from soft
bark of tapping panel dryness (TPD) and healthy rubber trees. Twenty-seven differentially expressed transcript-
derived fragments (TDFs) were obtained. Twenty of these TDFs were high intensity in TPD rubber tree and seven in
healthy ones. When the differentially expressed TDFs were cloned and sequenced, nineteen TDFs produced readable
sequences. Only nine TDFs revealed homology with known genes while another showed no significant homology
to
any sequences in GenBank. The relationship between cDNA-AFLP expression pattern and RT-PCR were confirmed.
