Conclusion
The present study showed that the chloroform extract of the rhizomes of
Alpinia
conchigera
Griff were separated to afford three pure compounds. They were
characterized as 3,5,7-trihydroxyflavone (galangin)
1
, 3,5,7-trihydroxy-4'-
methoxyflavone (kaempferide)
2
and 5,7-dihydroxy-4'-methoxy-3-
O
-ȕ-D-
glucopyranosideflavone (kaempferide-3-
O
-ȕ-D-glucoside)
3
, which had not been
previously reported in this species.
Further study on purification and structure elucidation of the other isolated
compounds are in progress.
