Abstract
In this research, New catalysts for rigid polyurethane foam was developed by using mixed metal
complexes synthesised from metal acetates and ethylenediamine. The effects of the new catalyst was compared
with a commercial N,N-Dimethylcyclohexylamine (DMCHA) by detecting reaction time, physical, and
mechanical properties. The results was found that the mixed transition metal complexes [Ni(en)
2
:Cu(en)
2
] showed
better catalytic activity than mixed transition and alkaline earth metal complexes and DMCHA which is used
industrially. Rigid polyurethane foams and catalysts were characterized by infrared spectroscopy. Furthermore, the
density and the compressive strength of the foams by [Ni(en)
2
:Cu(en)
2
] were 42.8 kg/m
3
and 262.7 kPa
respectively.
