Abstract
Genetic structure of Blue-spotted mudskipper (
#PMFPQIUIBMNVT
ǰ CPEEBSUJ
) in the Gulf of
Thailand was investigated, based on 376 base pairs of partial control region in mitochondrial DNA . A
total of 50 samples was collected from 5 locations in the Gulf of Thailand, Rayong, Chachoengsao,
Samutsongkram, Nakorn Sri Thammarat, and Pattani. There were 21 haplotypes, among which
haplotype01 (H01) was the common haplotype, found in 22 samples. A Neighbor-Joining phylogenetic
tree, produced via distance analysis, was established from the 21 haplotypes. The result showed no
genetic structure of the Blue-spotted mudskipper in the Gulf of Thailandǰwhich may be due to larva
dispersal. Therefore, as far as the management plan of this fish in the Gulf of Thailand is concerned,
the species should be treated as single stock.
