samples are provided and found in normal level. Radium equivalent activities (Req ) were calculated for the Patong
beach sand samples. It was found that of all of these samples have a mean value of radium equivalent activities
lower than the limit set in the OECD report (<370 Bq/kg). Radiation hazard indices (Hex ) were also assessed and
found lower than the safety limits (<1.0). Moreover, the overall mean outdoor gamma dose rate of the Patong
beach sand samples were also evaluated and found lower than the overall mean outdoor gamma dose rate of
Thailand (< 77 nGy/h).
