Abstract
The objective of this research was to study efficiency of extracts from Papaya leaves (
Carica
Papaya L.
) Cassod tree leaves (
Senna Siamea
) and Siamese Neem bark (
Azadirachta indica var. siamensis
) to eradicate
gastro-intestinal nematodes in goats. Thirty-two (16 males,16 females) Thai Native - Anglo-Nubian crosses were
used in randomized completely block design. Goats were divided in to 4 group with equal number and were
assigned to 4 treatments; 1) drenched with albendazole or injected with levamisole; 2) drenched with extract from
Papaya leaves; 3) drenched with extract from Cassed tree leaves and; 4) drenched with extract Siamese Neem bark
The experiment was divided into 2 periods. In the first period, goats were drenched with extracts at the concentration of 1
ml/kg body weight. However, in the second period, they were drenched with extracts at the concentration of 2 mg/kg body
weight. Results showed that 14 day after drenching the efficiencies of albendazole and extracts of papaya leaves, cassod tree
leaves and Siamese neem bark were 48.48%, 51.06%, 61.52% and 63.03%, respectively which were not statistically
significant. Howere, in the second period, the efficiency of laveamisol was 96.50%.Which significantly height
than that of extracts from papaya leaves(26.95%), cassod tree leaves(22.13%) and Siamese neem bark(45.99%).
Findings from this research suggest that the efficiencies of extracts from papaya leaves, cassod tree leaves, and
Siamese neem bark to eradicate gastro-intestinal nematodes in goats were low
Key words:
