Abstract
Thai local vegetables species for health care at Kong-hra District, Phatthalung Province were collected.
The research aimed to collect the usefulness of vegetables for health. The survey and collection of local
vegetables in this a year period (June 2009 - May 2010) found 206 species which each local vegetables have
health care potential. They can be divided into 4 groups by health care properties. The first group comprise of
29 species which can be used to relieve a stroke faint energetic. The local vegetables in this group are spicy flavor
and hot aroma. The second group is stimulant body which comprise of 25 species that are absorbed along the
body. They make fresh. The third group is cough relieve and postnasal drip which have 22 species that have sour
taste. Final group can be used a fever relieve were 18 species that have cool flavor
.
Local vegetables consumption can eat as functional food because of herbs medicines which good for
health. In addition, the nature has created the type of vegetables to grow and current seasonal especially Kong-hra.
