Abstract
The purposes of this research were to study (1) folk way to find social capital affected decision-making
to be a green and happiness society (2) analytical process in decision-making affected green and happiness
society, and (3) to use folk wisdom and community enterprise to manage ecotourism and sustainable development.
This was a case study of Bankokpayom located in moo 18, La-ngu, La-ngu district, Satun province which was
studied in 3 categories were, Quantitative Study: studying satisfaction survey of homestays in green and
happiness way, Qualitative Study: collecting in-depth data which affecting green and happiness living, and
Participatory Action Research: studying which encouraged and developed learning latency affecting green and
happiness development. The sample groups were community leaders, villagers, students, religious leaders,
academicians, researchers, government sectors and private organizations. Questionnaires, home-stay satisfaction
survey, in-dept interview, focus group, and participative observation were the instruments used to collect the data
then analyzed employing statistics and content analysis.
Results of the study revealed that Bankokpayom’s learning style was collective learning connected to its
ancestors’ learning and then transmitted the wisdom by formal learning, non-formal learning, and self-directed
learning. The learning style followed Islamic community way integrated with religious leaders power, government
sectors, NGO, academicians, and researchers. Bankokpayom’s main social capital was human capital which was
helpful, kind and friendly with the insiders and the outsiders. There were assembly, gathering for working (sor-
rang), working for public such as bridge construction and riverside community’s pavilion construction.
Bankokpayom also had cultural capital which were culture and belief, religions, rituals, and shared value in
community harmony. Natural resources capital; land, forest, rice field and the sea were food suppliers and places
for villagers’ earning. There was an analytical process to find the way of decision by arranging villagers’ meeting,
focus group, study tour, doing community master plan, doing community enterprises development plan, and
