Abstract
The rubber bound antioxidant was prepared by grafting of epoxidized natural rubber with
4-aminophenol (PAP) under nitrogen atmosphere and use zinc chloride as a catalyst. The graft reaction
occurred in Latex phase. To optimize the reaction condition, the influences of antioxidant quantity on
rubber molecule in graft copolymerization reaction was investigated. The rubber bound antioxidant was
cahracterized by IR spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic method. It was found that the
best condition for grafting 4-aminophenol onto natural rubber (NR) molecules when amount of 4-aminophenol
is increased and temperature of 50
o
C at 5 hour. The best copolymerization occurred when epoxidized
natural latex was in acid state
