Based on Table 4, only one word found was stressed similar with the Thai way. This was
performed by only Guide F who emphasized all three syllables of the word. This is normal as other
Thais do.

Referring to Table 5, the four guides similarly adjusted their Thai tones into the word ‘captain’
with the first level (common) changing the vowel sounds of the two syllables and ignoring the stress of
the first position. Moreover, the initial position of the word ‘tent’ is shared by the English and Thai
consonant sounds – non-aspiration. However, Guide E applied the fourth level of the Thai tone as it is
articulated in Thai (an English loan in Thai) to make it more Thai. Finally, Guide J also used the third
and fourth Thai tones to utter such phrases, sounding the Thai accent of the English words.
B.
Morphological features
The four guides employed two strategies of Thai English words - loan translation and clipping.
Loan translation refers to a word-by-word translation of the user’s L1 items into English (Bennui, 2013a,
p. 107). It was used when the guides translated proper Thai nouns on tourist places into English.
Further, clipping means a strategy for shortening a long word for easy communication (Bennui, 2013a,
p. 118). It was conveniently produced by the guides who prefer a shorter way of communicating
English to their tourists.
