Abstract
Methylene Blue contaminated water in high volume may lead to the eutrophication of river,
affecting the livelihood of microbes or organisms in the water. The objective of this research work is to
investigate the methylene blue removal efficiency by
Dendrocalamus Asper Backer
bamboo activated
carbon from aqueous media. The bamboo charcoal was activated to become AC by H
3
PO
4
via a
microwave radiation. The concentration of methylene blue was analyzed using the UV-Vis technique.
The suitable conditions for maximum ammonia adsorption were obtained with following: adsorbent
dosage of 0.25 g, and contact time of 60 min. The maximum adsorption capacity of methylene blue
was 79%. The adsorption isotherm was found to fit well with the Langmuir (R

= 0.9768) more than
Freundlich isotherm (R
2
= 0.8509).
