Abstract
This research present the new polymer from natural rubber (NR) was blended with cellulose by emulsion
polymerization process. The aim of the present work is to study the preparation and physical properties of polymer
blend composite from NR and cellulose by Maleic anhydride (MA) be crosslink agent.
The new polymer sheets
were prepared The factors including NR type, cellulose preparation process and cellulose contents affecting on the
properties of this polymer blend were investigated. The properties of the resulting polymer blend were analyzed
by dynamic properties, thromogravimatric analysis, tensile strengths, hardness and morphology. It is clear that the
tensile strength of the prepared composites decreased with increasing cellulose content. The tensile strength of the
NR in the presence of 50% w/w cellulose and 6%w/w was 9.46 MPa while the tensile strength of the cured NR
was19.22 MPa. The cellulose was improved the interaction NR matrix, leading to the good properties of this
sample. The cellulose was well dispersed in polymer matrix observed by SEM and OM. Thermogravimetric
curves showed that, thermal degradation of NR-g-cellulose occurred in two stages. The chemical structure
NR/cellulose was confirmed by ATR-FTIR and solid state NMR.
