Abstract
The purposes of this research study were to 1) study learning achievement in Northern dialect,
and 2) to study the inquiry and cooperative group working abilities. The samples were 41 students in
Mathayomsuksa 2/1 at Chiang Mai University demonstration school in first semester of the academic
year
5. They wereselectedby cluster random sampling. The instruments consisted of lesson plans
by using inquiry – based learning, Northern dialect learning test, and the inquiry and cooperative group
working abilities evaluation forms. Mean, percentage, standard deviation, t – test and content analysis
were used for data analyzing. The research findings revealed that1) the learning achievement score in
Northern dialect after using inquiry – based learning was higher than the criterion 60%at the .05 level
of significance,and 2) students had the inquiry and cooperative group working abilities at the high level.
