Abstract
Migration of secondary students from the southern border provinces to study in Malaysia is not a recently
phenomenon. Border crossing of students along the border of Thailand-Malaysia is a familiar picture for people in the
area. However, it is a social phenomenon that people who gets involved have to raise questions why Thai students need to
migrate to study in Malaysia and what the consequence could be. From the study of the causes of the migration to study
in Malaysia and expectations on going to study in Malaysia of students and parents found that factors that influence the
decision making are as the following; the better education system in Malaysia, the safer societies from drugs, similar
