society to collaborative culture society in the three Thai southern provinces. The study employed qualitative, and
quantitative method. The study results revealed that the social and cultural foundations of the multicultural area
in the three Thai southern provinces are the followings: 1) the geological foundation of the area is prosperous.
The area used to be an important commercial port on the Malaya peninsula 2) the historical foundation the area
where the influence of Prahmanism (Sawai Nikaya) in this area take to decrease and was Buddhism and Later
Islam respectively. This area has been a multi-society where Thai-Chinese, Thai-Buddhists, and Thai-Muslims
lived peacefully 3) the character of the multicultural society of the three Thai southern provinces has sociological
basis. The Islamic religion, family structures, Tadika institute, mosques and pondoks have mainly shaped the
people’s ways of life. The development of the idea of collaborative culture is aimed to replace the advocate of
authoritarianism or command from the central. The alternation of the use of soldier forces to collaborative culture
perspective in terms of social and culture views are as follows: 1) providing education and encouraging the search
for knowledge 2) being aware of sociological and cultural values 3) implementing the concept of collaboration
and democratic ideology. To create conciliation society, these followings must be created: common understanding
among locals, the trust with local societies, the respect among different culture groups, the respect in individual’s
religious rights and culture beliefs, the equality and justice of people. The establishment of collaborative culture is
a foundation to unite people in the society that believe in ‘Pakat’ or ‘Su-rawh’.
To establish the conciliation society, the recommendations are: 1) having a social tea gathering,
‘Makaetae’, at local mosques and charity fairs 2) organizing bird singing competitions 3) organizing school
children or youth sport days, 4) celebrating local activities such as Asurawh festival, Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha
activities, and Mow-lid festival, 5) establishing artisan product fairs for local artisan groups e.g., Batik, Budoo
production, Kolae boat, and handicraft, 6) creating social service groups who work on healthcare and encourage
people to participate in local and national elections. In summary, there are two important factors that can lead to
the success of the establishment of the collaborative society. First, there must be cooperation among government,
religious leaders, local leaders, and locals. Secondly, the activities should be collaborative efforts from local
administration, religious institutes (temples, mosques, pondoks), and local networking groups.
