Abstract
The main characteristic of instructional media software is the content presentation and program
interaction. The contents should be presented in terms of multimedia in order to make it more interesting. Due to
the interestedness of the content, user will play attention in using program means he plays attention to the contents
of the lesson as well. The enjoyable of using the program stimulate the improvement of the learning knowledge.
Development of instructional media software is an important issue that can make the learning process more
efficiency. To achieve this target, developer must use many techniques to present the contents such as graphic,
animation, or speech in order to make it more interesting. User could study any where and anytime, repeat the
lessons until he understood. Regarding of this concept, it is suitable to develop software for learning English
vocabulary which include the vocabulary recognition and pronunciation especially for elementary students. These
two learning activities are not an easy task since English is not our mother language. This software will be the
efficiency tool to support student who is starting to learn English.
The multimedia dictionary (English-Thai) for elementary education is developed in order to be the
alternative tool for elementary students to study, recognize and practice vocabularies using computer program.
The student could remember and learn to pronounce vocabulary as the native speaker. The program includes text-
to-speech and speech recognition to pronounce and recognize English vocabulary. In addition, the program
provides the test module for knowledge testing.
