Abstract
The purposes of this study were to investigate the quality of working life and organizational commitment
of contracted staff and analyze factors affecting organizational commitment of contracted staffs at Prince of
Songkla University, Hatyai campus.
The sampling group was 232 contracted staff in 16 faculties at Prince of Songkla University, Hatyai
campus. The data were collected by using rating scale questionnaires. Out of these, 218 questionnaires (94%) were
returned from the respondents. Frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation and multiple linear
regression were used to analyze data. The results of the study were as follow:
1) The overall mean score of the quality of working life of contracted staff at Prince of Songkla
University, Hatyai campus was at a moderate level ( = 3.40). Quality of working life in terms of social relevance
of the work in the life were at high level and other aspects such as their social integration in the organization,
constitutionalism, work and the total space of life, work conditions, use and development of capacities, chance of
growth and security; and fair and appropriate compensation were at moderate level.
2) Organizational commitment of contracted staff was at a moderate level ( = 3.17). Their affective
commitment, continuance commitment and normative commitment were acceptable.
Quality of working life affecting organizational commitment of contracted staff at Prince of Songkla
University, Hatyai campus significantly affected by quality of working life factors such as chance of growth and
security (

= 0.291), work and the total space of life (
ȕ
= 0.162); and work conditions (
ȕ
= 0.147) (p< 0.05 and
p< 0.001 respectively).
