Abstract
This study was

study about effects of hBD-1, -2 and -3 on osteoclastogenesis Whole-blood
samples were obtained from healthy volunteer; human osteoclast progenitor cells were isolated from
human peripheral blood mononuclear cells To determine the cytotoxicity of hBDs, cultured osteoclasts
were treated with different concentrations of hBD-1, -2 or -3 by MTT assay The cells were cultured in the
presence of non-toxic doses of hBDs during an

induction of osteoclastogenesis The results shown
that hBD-1 could enhance multinuclear formation and formation of resorption pits On the other hand,
hBD-3 could inhibit osteoclast formation and diminish the formation of resorption pits Whereas, hBD-2 has
no effect on osteoclastogenesis In conclusion, the results of the present study showed a differential effect
of hBD-1, -2 and -3 on osteoclastogenesis.
