Abstract
A Thai traditional and alternative medicine clinic in Songkhla hospital provided a training
center to increase professional skills in Thai massage to 4 Thai traditional medicine students from June
to July 2015 by studying Prevalence of Musculoskeletal Disorders in Patients. Results showed there
were 240 patients receiving the services from the trainees. 24 diseases were detected from 233
patients by Thai traditional therapeutic massage; 7 patients could not be diagnosed because of unclear
symptoms. The top 10 of the most frequently found musculoskeletal disorders were myofascial pain
syndrome (MPS) of Lumbar3 (22.50 %), MPS of Thoracic1 (14.58 %), MPS of Lumbar Spine - Sacral1
(11.25 %), chronic knee pain (7.50 %), stroke (6.67 %), frozen shoulder (6.25 %), MPS of Cervical7 (6.25 %),
cramping (2.08 %), hemiplegia (2.08 %) and MPS of Thoracic1 and Cervical7(2.08 %), respectively.
Therefore, this research is useful for learning and teaching Thai massage courses.
