Abstract
The research aim to reveal the approach of teaching in a classroom of communication arts field
(Aesthetics) that has the concern with science of communication for instance.; using mass media in radio and a
television, new mass media is digital media, marketing , designing, advertisements - public relations, and
performing arts , etc. The research intend to discover the satisfaction and need of the knowledge of students
towards the Aesthetic course such as; what kind of the information do they want to know?, what kind of mass
equipment media do they like ? and what kind of media can make the communication more efficient. The case
study is applied in Aesthetics course, and the answers are collected from the students that were studying in this
class. The research results show that the desirable media channels that students frequently used for sending-
receiving the information with others are as following: electronic mail (email) 67 percents, SMS from a mobile
phone 48 percents, Facebook 35 percents, Hi-5 27 percents, Chat via computer and mobile phone 21 percents,
webboard 12 percents, and Twitter 5 percents.
In the sense of contents which students need the teacher to provide in the class, which make the most
effective in instruction are; firstly , using video projection or VDO presentation to offer the textual theory
content 50 percents; secondly, PowerPoint presentation 43 percents; thirdly, using the explanation from true
examples to create the imagination and recognition 26 percents; fourthly, by asking questions and answering
between a teacher and students to test the interest and understanding of students 15 percents; Fifty, using only
lecturing by a teacher to create the concentration in the class 9 percents.
In the sense of the expectation in a teacher for example; the teacher should use speech and body
language of teacher in the way that make students feel enjoyable by suggesting the appropriate point of views in
lessons, apply the teenage language which easily understood and informally to students but the teacher should not
speak technical terms too much. They like the enthusiasm of teacher and true story-telling and a teacher should
give a chance for enquiry and listening to the opinion of students about knowledge and news.
