Abstract
ǰ
The objectives of this research were to evaluate enzymes (lipase amaylase and
Į
-glucosidase)
inhibitory activities of 6 species of plant. One of the therapeutic approaches for obesity, inhibiting fat
digestion, and type II diabetes, delaying disaccharides digestion to absorbable monosaccharides, leads
to a reduction in glucose absorption and, subsequently, the rise of postprandial hyperglycemia is
attenuated. From the results, crude methanol extracts of
Centotheca lappacea, Tectona grandis
and
Antidesma ghaesembilla
exhibited the highest lipase, amylase and
Į
-glucosidase inhibitory activities as
96.45, 66 and 98.48%, respectively. Thus, the results from the studied plant extracts can be applied as
the guideline for the selection of medicinal plant species for further pharmacological and
phytochemical investigations.
