Abstract
The antioxidant and antityrosinase activities of the ethanolic extracts of leaves, branches and
peels of
Artocarpus integer
were investigated. Samples were harvested at
Amphoe Khuan Khanun
,
Phatthalung Province.
The dried powder of leaves, branches and peels was extracted at room
temperature with ethanol to give the EEL, EEB and EEP crude extracts, respectively. The antioxidant activity
was evaluated using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay, using butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) as a
standard. Tyrosinase inhibitory activity was measured using the modified dopachrome method with L-
DOPA as a substrate and kojic acid as standard. The results showed that the antioxidant and
antityrosinase activities were found to be highest in the EEB extract

respectively) followed by the EEL and EEP crude extracts, respectively. The results of
this study proved that the ethanolic extract of branches can be excellent sources of antioxidant and
antityrosinase compounds.
