Abstract
Fish protein hydrolysate was used in the concentration of 5 and 10 mg/ml as exogenous
growth enhancer to stimulate San Pa Tong glutinous rice seedling performance according to total
phenolic contents and antioxidant activity. Results indicated that fish protein hydrolysate stimulated
total phenolic content and antioxidant activity in seedling better than control condition. Ten mg/ml
fish protein hydrolysate expressed better growth enhancer than that of 5 mg/ml. The highest total
phenolic contents found in 18 days old seedling at the concentration of 0.4050 mg/ml and the highest
percentage of DPPH scavenging was 4.735 found in 12 days old seeding. This finding can be concluded
that fish protein hydrolysate can be used as exogenous growth enhancer to stimulate phytochemical
in San Pa Tong glutinous rice seedling. This technique can be used for value-added in San Pa Tong
glutinous rice by no need of genetic engineering technique.
