Abstract
The research entitled The Existing State and the Guardians’ Expectations of the Early-Age
Education Undertakings of the Centers for Development of Pre-School Children of the Tambon
Administrative Organizations, Meuang District, Songkhla Province, aimed to study the levels of
the existing state and the guardians’ expectations of early-age education, to compare the differences
between the said state and expectations by the variables of age, occupation, education, number of
children, and experience in patronizing the said centers for development of pre-school children,
and to compile problems relating to the existing state referred to as well as suggestions from the
guardians’ expectations the services provided by the said centers. The research instruments were
a questionnaire administered to 230 subjects and an interview involving 20 subjects. The data
analysis was carried out by means of percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and F-test.
The research findings appear as follows.
1. The guardians perceived the state of early-age education at a moderate level as a whole
and on the aspects of physical plant and environment, the children, the curricula and the
experience programming process, and the children’s teachers or caretakers, while
the guardians’ expectations were at a high level as a whole as well as on the aspects of
physicalplant and environment, the children’s teachers or caretakers, the curricul
and the experience programming process, and the children.
2. The said guardians perceived differently the said state and expectations as a whole as
well as on individual aspects at the .001 level of statistical significance, showing higher
means of their expectations than those of the existing state regarding the said early-age
educational programs, with reference to the aspects of the children, physical plkant
and environment, the curricula and the experience programming process, and the
children’s teachers or caretakers.
3. Comparatively by age and occupation, the guardians differed in their perception of the
said existing state of the early-age educational programs either as a whole or on individual
