Cs) in 150 soil samples collected from every sub-district in 16
districts (Muang, Hat Yai, Ranot, Krasaesin, Satingpra, Singha-nakorn, Jana, Tapha, Nathawee, Sabayoi,
Namom, Khuan niang, Sadao, Rattaphum, Klong Hoy Kong, BangKlum) of Songkhla province
(Thailand), was approved and supported by Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP) Science and Technology
Ministry. The research experiment will be performed and analyzed at OAP laboratory in Bangkok using
a high purity germanium and gamma ray spectrometry analysis system. There are three main research
objectives. Firstly, the specific activity of natural and anthropogenic radionuclides in 150 soil samples
from all sub-districts and districts in Songkhla province should be measured and reported. Secondly, these
measured data could be used to assess radiation hazard indices for people who live in Songkhla province.
And thirdly, all of the results can be used to be the natural radiation level (basic or reference data) of
Songkhla province before the construction of the 1st Thailand nuclear power plant in the future.
Moreover, the results were also compared with the OAP data in annual reports, Thailand and
worldwide research reports.
