“Global Worming” is a major problem that
comes from energy consumption, especially
in residential
and other buildings. The Sustainable House is an integrated
research that extended the knowledge base of the energy
conservation building design, for hot humid climate, climate
change and social change. These will propagate to the social
appropriately, which is a next step to reduce global
worming under sufficiency economic philosophy. This
research responds to 1) appropriate of usable 2) budget and
choice 3) security and safety 4) aesthetic 5) energy
conservation. The research was design the prototype of the
Sustainable House by used the design integration technique
and paradigm shift concept, and constructed. The result was
the sustainable house that responds to the modern living
which controls the indoor environment. The construction
cost was 6,515 baht/m2. This house reduces energy used and
reduces CO
2
emission about 6 times, the electricity demand
average 1,085 baht/month, and able to fully used the
renewable energy. The house was light mass and light
weight, can reduce the construction time about 90 days.

I
NTRODUCTION
“Global Worming” is a major problem that comes
from energy consumption, especially
in residential and
other buildings. House, which is one in 4 factors of
human living, is the way to green sustainable living.
Housing or residential was source of the pollution for
many centuries. Now, new technologies should be
integrated into the house for reducing the energy demand
and global worming under sufficiency economic
philosophy. The important of this study was the
understanding of hot-humid climate in Thailand.
Especially, the changing of the climate and social life
were the main factor that contributed the house designed.
In the past, the design usually used the natural
environment and the climate modification, which were
appropriate in each climate. The result was expressed in
the vernacular architecture such as traditional Thai house
that wa
s the genius of Thai’s ancestor, which
appropriated for the past completely natural
environments. The knowledge from the past by using the
natural environment made Thai intellect. The traditional
Thai house usually used the trees, shrubs, ground
covering or pond around the house for reduce the impact
from ambient temperature. The space under traditional
Thai house used for reduced the temperature and
humidity, and created the comfort condition. These
applications were the sample of Thai intellect.
In the present, the changing of the environment and
climate, include the hot, humid, pollution, dust, etc were
changing the human life. Moreover, the need to control
the environment condition and the modern living were
cause of the air condition used. But, when using the air
condition in the natural ventilation house, it will demand
a large of electricity. Because, the house, that used the
knowledge from the past, does not appropriate for the air
condition system. These come from the mistake
understanding in heat and moisture protection, which the
major cause of energy used in hot humid climate.
Moreover, the mistake understanding in the material used
that come from technologies of worm climate or cold
climate were causes of the lost of the natural value and
high energy demand, especially the electricity demand.
Many solutions for reduce the energy problem in
Thailand such as law and regulation, the improvement of
the lighting system and the air condition system was
trifling success. It was stimulate the mind of energy
conservation and environmental preservation. But, the
appropriate solution for this problem will be the reducing
of the energy used in the house, which contain the quality
of human life. And the integrated of the appropriate
renewable energy which do not affected to environment.
This research was design the prototype of the Sustainable
House by used the design integration technique and
paradigm shift concept. The result was the Sustainable
House was responded to the modern living which
controls the indoor environment. The integrated of the
renewable energy will be prepared and used. This is the
better solution for the future house in Thailand.
