1. Overview of motorcycle anti-theft system using an application of RFID.
This system has been installed at Prachinburi province, Thailand in order to follow with the
government policy and object to reduce the number of motorcycle stolen. The overview of this system is
illustrated in figure 1. The motorcycle anti-theft system consists of four sections. Firstly, the twin UHF
passive tags are installed on the motorcycle's lamb called "
bike tag
" and the key called "
key tag
".
Secondly, fixed UHF RFID reader with 4 antennas. Thirdly, the processing unit used to calculate the data
from the RFID reader and then decide to alarm when the case of stolen occurs. Finally, the
communication between reader and processing unit with FTTx technology. All of RFID readers have been
installed on the stand beside the road. Besides, the processing unit is installed at the command center.
The FTTx can help to communicate between the reader and the processing unit which are installed in the
different place;

The two main reasons to install the processing unit at the command center. Firstly, the
temperature should be suitable for the computer which calculate the data from the RFID reader. It is able
to extend the lifetime of the computer. Secondly, it is easy to maintenance and update software.
The bike tags and the key tags has been registered to database before install on the motorcycle. It
means that the database has the information for each twin tags (bike tags and key tags) in which
motorcycle are installed. The registration of tag is necessary for the processing unit. Figure 2 shows the
data processing flowchart for the motorcycle anti-theft system. It consists of two significant processing
terms. Firstly, the processing unit at the stand can read the data from the tags with the fixed RFID reader.
The data will be sent to the processing unit via FTTx. Secondly, the processing unit has responded to
