Abstarct
This study aimed to study the self-reliance of Koa Pra Water Source Community using TERMS
Model in cooperation with BAN. The factors affecting on the self-reliance were also studied. The
residents living in the area and its network were used as a target group. The result found that the
self-reliance of Koa Pra Water Source Community depended on both family and community level. There
were 5 aspects of self-reliance. First , in terms of technology or local wisdom , residents depended on
wisdomof plantation , retained-water dike andmountainous runningwater. Second, in terms of economics,
sufficient economics was evident in rubber plantation , orchards , including plant cultivation with rubber
plantation including saving group. Third , in terms of resources , there was abundance of soil and water
for residents to mutually live well with forests. The forestry repairing and other supplementary forest
plantation were provided along the bank of the canal , plantation beside the residential areas for general
use of wood of uses and gardening Fourth, in term of mind, the community residents in Koa Pra have
2 religions : Buddhism and Islam. They live happily in peace, learn and do activities mutually. Finally ,
in terms of social culture , the community was generously helpful along relatives and community ,
one-baht oath taking group took care of security for community members from birth to death . In
terms of condition concerning BAN , the community had the balance of the forest quality of soil,
water and ways of life supporting the residents’ competence through the network of conservation of
forestry water source Community fund is the main inside factors for self-reliance of community ,for
instance , fund of wisdom for leaders’ of nature , resourceful fund , social fund concerning caring ,
financial and security fund of community. For outside. Factors, Koa Pra Water Source Community is
the community having effects on water source of Songkhla-Rattaphom wetland and Songkhla lake.
Consequently, public and private organization should pay attention to ways of life and residents’ living
affecting on water source forest and play roles on providing knowledge and enhancing the maintenance
of process of water source forest including encouraging residents to live with forests as protectors.
