Abstract
The purpose of this study was to isolate lipase-producing bacteria from soil and restaurant
wastewater contaminated with fat, oil and grease. Bacteria were isolated on screening medium and
JODVCBUFEǰBUǰ ǰÑ$ǰfor 24 hours. Twenty eight bacterial strains were isolated. Amoung these, 2 strains
(SLP1 and SLP2) were isolated from soil and 26 isolates (WLP1 to WLP26) were obtained from
wastewater. Morphology of almost isolated bacterial strains from soil and wastewater were Gram
negative, rod shape and Gram positive, cocci and rod shape. Capacity of lipase enzyme production
GSPNǰJTPMBUFEǰTUSBJOTǰXFSFǰPCTFSWFEǰPGǰDMFBSǰ[POFǰPOǰUSJCVUZSJOǰBHBS ǰJODVCBUFEǰBUǰ ǰÑ$ǰfor 48 hours.
Strain WLP26,ǰWLP1, SLP2, WLP7ǰandǰWLP5 had lipase enzyme index as 2.32, 2.22, 2.06, 1.86 andǰ1.85,
respectively. Lipase activity of strain WLP20, WLP1, WLP21, WLP5 and WLP26 were 182.43, 175.67,
168.92, 166.67 andǰ159.90 units/mL, respectively.
