Abstract
The purpose of these studies to determine total phenolics content, antioxidant and antimicrobial
activitiesǰof
$ZQFSVTǰ SPUVOEVTǰ -JOO
. Different solvents of varying polarity were examined and compared
their capabilities to extract essential bioactive agents from dried herb ǰThe 50% ethanol was found to be
the best among tested solvents for extraction which yields of dried herb.ǰThe result show that the 50 %
ethanol extract fraction had the highest content of total phenolics content (8.024 mgǰGAE per g) and the
greatest the antioxidant activity (0.49 mg per g) .ǰPaper samples were treated with the extract fractions
and evaluated for their antibacterial activities.ǰCompared to al, the paper treated with the 50 % ethanol
extract fraction was found to exhibit the most significant antibacterial activity against of bacteria while the
paper treated with the hexane extract fraction showed no inhibition.ǰThe treated paper samples showed
stronger activity against Gram-negative than Gram-positive.
